Thomas Grødal is invited for a residency of one month in RAVI, Liège, as part of the exchange project Het Kanaal/ Le Canal.

The work of Thomas Grødal exists out of painting combined with mixed media installations including wood, metal, oil, stone and textiles. Through his work Grødal researches the relation between man and society. His art projects present various perspectives: the hermit in the mountains (Eremita, 2004-05), member of a virtual community (Global Project, 2006 onwards), the role of social institutions and how they manifest themselves in our daily surroundings (Temporary Unavailable Space, 2009; and Army of Signs, 2010). In his works Thomas Grødal tries describing an escape from this social conformism and creates a space for freedom.
