Suse Weber

Dec 2008 to Mar 2009
1970 Born in Leipzig

Suse Weber will do a residency of four months in AIR Antwerpen, which will provide her with the possibility to further develop her research around the Congorama, started in FLACC, Genk. The aim is to develop a work that moves between ethnological, touristic and voyeuristic approaches.
A final presentation took place in Troubleyn, Antwerp.

Suse Weber works in sculpture, sound, installation, theatre and performance. Her works are permeated by emblems and symmetry and they reflect on everyday forms of society and socialization. On the one hand they present a cultural critique of the social status quo in certain areas, while they also raise questions pertaining to belonging, identity, and self-image.

Suse Weber combines industrially produced raw materials and materials she has made herself.
Her perfect aesthetics resemble industrial mass production.

Suse Weber was invited for the following solo exhibitions (a selection): Tanzschule für eine Marionette, Galerie Barbara Weiss, Berlin, 2010; FORMEL:KONGORAMA#3, WIELS, Brüssel, 2009; FORMEL:KONGORAMA#2,Base -Alpha-Gallery, Antwerpen, 2009; Dönerpuppe, Martha Herford Museum, 2009; Formel: Verein, Kunstverein MMIII, Mönchengladbach, 2008.
