Post Brothers

May 2013 to Jul 2013
1984 Los Angeles

Post Brothers was invited for a residency of three months in AIR Antwerpen in collaboration with Objectif Exhibitions.

Post Brothers: “a critical enterprise that includes Matthew Post”. Enterprising, in an anti-entrepreneurial way. Matthew Post writes, but his activities cannot be framed by only one discipline – artist, curator, critic, collaborator, collector, crackpot academic – to question, exaggerate, and deconstruct forms of knowledge construction and circulation. Post Brothers is based in a decommissioned freight elevator in Oakland, California, but works internationally. During his residency in AIR Antwerpen he will transform the decommissioned elevator in the basement storage space of Objectif Exhibitions into Post Office – a European outpost, a permanent artwork, a place for the circulation of ideas.

Post Brothers received an MA in Curatorial Practice from the California College of the Arts, San Francisco, 2009; and a BFA from Emily Carr Institute, Vancouver, 2006. He curated the following exhibitions (a selection): Clinamen, Xawery Dunikowski Museum of Sculpture, Krolikarnia Palace, Warsaw, 2013; What Happened To The Other Dollar?, co-curated with Chris Fitzpatrick, Proyectors Monclova, Mexico City, 2011; Nina Beier: What Follows Will Follow II, co-curated by Chris Fitzpatrick, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, 2010; Exercises in Seeing, Queens Nails Projects, San Francisco, 2009. His essays and articles have been published in Annual Magazine, the Baltic Notebooks of Anthony Blunt, Cura, Fillip, Kaleidoscope, Mousse, Nero, Pazmaker, Punkt, and Spike Art Quarterly, as well as in artist publications and exhibition catalogues.
