Oscar Hugal

Sep 2011 to Nov 2011
1986 Belgium

As part of the exchange program with the Kulturbunker Frankfurt Oscar Hugal was selected for a residency period of three months in Frankfurt.

Oscar Hugal often starts from the everyday world in which he makes concise interventions that disturb a certain logic or order. These interventions are documented in photographs, videos and objects. With a sense of humour his works construct their own logic and situate themselves between the true and the false. (Edith Doove)

Oscar Hugal lives and works in Antwerp. He studied at the Sint-Lucas Hogeschool, Antwerp. His work was represented in the following group exhibitions (a selection): The Second Act, Cultuurcentrum de Brakke Grond, Amsterdam, 2011; A Slowdown at the Museum, Extra City Kunsthal Antwerpen, 2011; Lines and Crossings, Medea/bb15, Linz, 2010; Anonymous Drawings N°10, Kunstraum Kreuzberg, Berlijn, 2009. He was laureate for the Prize Burgemeester Camille Huysmans, 2010.
