Fritz Welch was invited by OHNO COOPERATIOn (Jan Lauwers & Maarten Seghers) as residents in AIR Antwerpen for the OPEN AIR # 5 festival.

Fritz Welch is an artist with a practice equally divided between the sonic and visual realms. His installations utilize wall drawing, sculpture and sound to explore the themes of anarchic mutation and social transformation. This work is typically site-specific and often employs performative actions as a means of generating viable material residues. Welch’s music and sound activities are primarly based on improvisation and utilize collaboration as a means of decentralizing the individual creative impulse.

He also participated in group exhibitions such as: The DEATHANDADA of Everyday Life, Galerie Lehtinen, Berlin, 2011; The Tragedy of the Applause, La Condition Publique, Roubaix, 2009; Safer With Strangers, PAD Gallery, Preston, 2008; Feng Shui Karaoke and All Day Breakfast, Westgermany Gallery, Berlin, 2007; Agit-Prop Vienna, Kunsthalle Exnergasse, Vienna. Currently Fritz Welch is part of Peeesseye, Brittle Hammer Trio, Fvrtvr, Ki, Lambs Gamble en The Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra. Amongst others he played together with Seamus Cater, Clare Cooper, Neil Davidson, Stephen O’Malley, Jazzfinger, Clayton Thomas, Usurper, Michael Vorfeld, W!77iN6 en Jack Wright.
